At a special council on April 4th, Los Olivos sangha chose Nenzen Pamela Brown as their Guiding Teacher and thus, to officially and organizationally separate from SBZC. In light of this, their sangha is now referred to as the Valley Sangha. As always, they look forward to continued practice and socializing with SBZC and all sanghas. For any questions about this matter or for more information about the Valley Sangha, please reach out to Sōkyō Mariko at: mariko@marikobraswell.com and/or thevalleysangha@gmail.com and/or Nenzen Pamela Brown directly at nenzen@jikojizencenter.org.
The Valley Sangha meets in person on Thursdays at 6:30pm at St. Mark's in the Valley Church: 2901 Nojoqui Ave, Los Olivos, CA 93441
With the kind support of Randall Day of Saint Mark's-in the-Valley Church, and the Santa Barbara Zen Center Board of Directors, a weekly Zen sitting group now meets weekly in Los Olivos.
For more information about these gatherings and other upcoming events and topics, we encourage you to subscribe to our weekly email newsletter below.
We look forward to sitting with you soon.
SBZC @ SYV was the recipient of a large bell, generously donated by Gerow Reese and our friends at Jikoji Zen Center and kindly delivered by Michael Shoho Newhall. We are so grateful for this musical gift, and very thankful also to SBZC for letting us borrow their temple bell temporarily. Pictured here are members of our SBZC @ SYV sangha smiling with deep gratitude.
